Canticles and Responsorial Psalms
For those holding a Catholic ceremony or Mass, a Responsorial Psalm is a required element. The cantor will intone or sing the refrain and invite your guests to respond or sing the refrain with him/her. The cantor will then sing a verse and motion for your guests to sing the refrain again, until the entire psalm is sung.
If you are having a service or ceremony that is not Catholic, you may choose to use a canticle or psalm as a meditation piece or as a hymn that your guests will sing.
